Citizenship: World Bank development blogs

Yes, blogs are becoming powerful communication tools, they are very popular, inexpensive and an easy to use way to reach a wider audience. And they can be also used for serious communication, for really important issues.

Acknowledging that trend, the World Bank is now using three blogs to deliver its message and attract new ideas, inputs and for discussion. The first is the Private Sector Development blog which displays news, resources and ideas about the role of private enterprise in fighting poverty. The second is the Poverty and Growth blog, a platform for sharing knowledge and improving common understanding of the challenges of reducing poverty and accelerating growth. Finally, the Innovations in Emerging Markets blog presents news and information on sustainable business innovations and trends by firms and entrepreneurs operating in emerging markets. All three blogs are of course informal and represent the opinions of the bloggers, not of the World Bank. And the blogs are quite ‘open’, with guest bloggers (this is a good idea!) commenting and posting articles. Visit the World Bank homepage – the links to the three blogs are under the column "events":
